Bless the creators, O God of creation,
who by their gifts make the world
a more joyful and beautiful realm.
Through their labours
they teach us to see more clearly
the truth around us.
In their inspiration
they call forth wonder and awe
in our own living.
In their hope and vision
they remind us that life is holy.
Bless all who create in your image,
O God of creation.
Pour your Spirit upon them
that their hearts may sing
and their works be fulfilling.
Amen.

In our College Mission Understanding we are reminded that each person in our community is God’s Work of Art and holds within them great gifts. Over the past week these gifts have been very much on display: at the Interhouse Swimming Carnival (Congratulations to Corbett); in the excellent learning growth evident in the recent PAT Maths and Reading tests, and in the Arts and Technology events we’ve enjoyed.
Last Thursday we welcomed students and families to the annual Images Arts and Technology exhibition, and this week we enjoyed the Year 10 Music Performance evening. As I watched the performances, wandered through the exhibition and enjoyed the films, I was in awe of the talent on display. The performances, designs, art work, technology projects and films displayed depth of thought, fresh ideas and unique insights about our world. Some were sobering, others quirky or poignant but all expressed ideas with inherent beauty and creativity. Congratulations to everyone involved in both events.
The arts give expression to the beauty of the faith and proclaim the Gospel message of the grandeur of God’s creation. When we admire a work of art or a marvel of nature, we discover how everything speaks to us of Him and of His love. That artists of our time, though their creativity, may help us discover the beauty of creation. (Pope Francis, August 2017)
Thank you to all the artists (musicians, painters, film makers, sculptors, designers and craftsman) in our community for helping us, through your gifts, to discover the beauty of creation.
Thank you to the Arts and Technology teachers, students and the student curators who spent many hours working on the performances and exhibition. Your dedication, energy and hard work were well rewarded in the responses of your guests. Thank you to the Food Technology students for the catering. The finger food was delicious.
Lastly, thank you to family and friends who joined us for both evenings. Your support on the night was very much appreciated.
Finishing the Year
Students across the school have exams, class tests and assessment tasks which need to be completed over the next three weeks. It’s essential that everyone continues to work hard to the very end of the year.
As always, it’s important that students are at school each day unless sick. Sometimes students will ask parents and carers for a day off towards the end of the year, claiming that things are winding down. This is not the case. The final weeks of the year are a time to ramp up, not to wind down. Winding down is the task of holidays.
Students who think they’ve left it all too late for this year, might like to think about the following Chinese proverb:
“The best time to plant a tree is twenty years ago.
The second-best time is today.”
Inter-house Swimming Carnival
Undeterred by the persistent drizzle, students and staff had an enjoyable day at Inter-house Swimming Carnival.
Thank you to all involved in organising the day, particularly the House Captains, Mr Boudaher, the Health and PE staff, and all staff and officials. Lastly, thank you to all who participated, displaying strong team spirit and giving their best for their House.
Enrolment for 2026
Enrolment at the College continues automatically from year to year. However, if a student in Years 7, 8 or 9 is not returning in 2026, we ask that families notify us as soon as possible. Please email jneves@crcstalbans.com.au or ring Jackie Neves on 9366 2544 with this information.
Your assistance with this is much appreciated as we have an extensive waiting list at most levels and would like to let these families know sooner, rather than later.

School Advisory Board - Parent Update
The School Advisory Council (SAC) provides a connection between the broader school community, school leadership, the principal, and the parish. Our group meets once each term; last Monday, we held our final meeting for this year. During the session, we discussed key topics affecting the school and lent our support to several decisions made by Principal Christina Utri and Parish Priest Father Gerard Keith.
Some recent initiatives since our last meeting include installing new tennis nets and considering new software to help monitor homework assignments.
We welcomed guest speakers Jacinta Dykes, Faith and Mission Leader, and Kirthik Ramachandran, Social Justice Captain, who shared updates on their sustainability efforts, such as the Catholic Earthcare program.
Father Gerard recounted his experiences from his visit to Uganda, where he spent time with the students and community at the school in Buyaga, which our community supports. The school has made significant progress and, with continued sponsorship, has plans for further development.
Principal Christina Utri gave her report, covering upcoming events like the Images exhibition and the swimming carnival, staff development on Cyber Security, and participation in the Australian Catholic Youth Festival. She also reviewed the school’s finance report.
Lastly, we spoke about the newest member of the school, Arthur Theodore, our wellbeing dog, who is being trained and currently works all day on Thursdays and will increase his days as his training progresses.
If you would like to be part of the SAC, there are a few places available. For more information, please contact Eileen Chalmers 93662544. Being on the council is a fantastic way to connect with the school and advocate for our children.

Year 9 and 10 Exam Tips
Exam Essentials: Top Tips to Perform at your Best!
With Year 10 exams only a week away, and Year 9 soon to follow, it’s the perfect time to focus on preparation and wellbeing. Here are a few simple tips to help students perform at their best:
1. Plan your study time
Break revision into manageable chunks and focus on one subject or topic at a time. Use your schedule to balance study, rest, and relaxation.
2. Use class time wisely
Ask questions, review key concepts, and seek feedback from your teachers — small clarifications now can make a big difference later.
3. Practise under exam conditions
Try completing short practice questions or timed tasks. This builds confidence and helps manage nerves on the day.
4. Look after yourself
Eat well, stay hydrated, get plenty of sleep, and make time for movement. A healthy body supports a focused mind.
5. Stay positive
Remember that exams are a chance to show what you’ve learned. Approach each day with calm confidence — doing your best is always something to be proud of.
We wish all our Year 9 and 10 students every success as they prepare for exams. Your hard work and determination throughout the year are what make the difference!

Go the mo!

The great Movember Shave Off 2025 took place last week on the outdoor stage during recess. Members of staff were shaved by students in a show of support for men's mental health and wellbeing. A great turn out of both students and staff. Go the Mo!

Uganda Partnership
Give the Gift of Education This Christmas
Christmas is a season of giving, and few gifts are as life changing as the gift of education. CRC St Albans and Resurrection Parish have joined together in a meaningful partnership to support the secondary education of boys and girls in Buyaga — a rural, under-resourced community in Uganda.
Through our sponsorship program, a contribution of just $10 per month for 12 months provides one student with access to education for an entire year.
If you would like to make a difference this Christmas by giving the gift of learning, please contact the Parish office at 7064 3920 or email kingspark@cam.org.au.
