Learning Matters
The first semester reports are now available through the Parent Access Module at:
http://www.crcstalbans.catholic.edu.au/. (PAM can also be accessed via the SIMON
Everywhere app.)
Students have access to their reports through the Learning Management System. During Pastoral Care, they will be given the opportunity to reflect on their report and identify their strengths and areas for development.
At the Student/Parent/Teacher interviews, your son/daughter will share their reflection on what they have achieved, what they have recognised about themselves as learners and what they will focus on in Semester Two with respect to their learning and wellbeing.
Student Led Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences
The interviews will take place with Pastoral Care teachers on Monday 7th August from 4:00 – 8:00pm and on Tuesday 8th August from 9:00am – 2:30pm.
Your son/daughter will lead the conference which is expected to run for approximately 20 minutes.
Year 7 interviews will be conducted in the students’ homerooms.
Year 8 and 9 interviews will take place in the College Hall.
Year 10 interviews will run in the Year 10 Centre.
The Year 10 conferences will be a combination of student self-reflection and finalisation of Year 11 Courses.
Families are asked to complete the online booking through the Parent Access Module by Monday 31st July.
A How to Book Parent/Teacher Interviews guide can be found on our website:

Go Girls - ‘Go For I.T’ Excursion
‘Go Girl, Go for IT’ is a fun, free 1-day technology conference for girls in Years 5-12 across Australia.
A common perception is that 'IT' means coding. Go Girl challenges that view by showcasing different ESTEAM (Environment, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) careers.
“The one-day event focuses on inspiring students with fantastic role model speakers, showcasing technology of the future and challenging any preconceptions of what a career in ESTEAM might look like. It opens up the possibilities of following careers in everything from user design to cybersecurity to data science (just to name a few!).” (gogirl.org.au)
During the last week of term 2, we had 16 students from across years 8 and 9 who attended hands-on workshops, listened to guest speakers, and engaged in discussions with industry experts. These experiences provided answers and created new questions that will ultimately help to discover what a career in ESTEAM or STEM could mean for them.

“The Go Girls is a program that supports females. This program was full of information about technology and everything you need to know about it. It also had a lot of activities and experiences such as the VR section where we built our own project to fix a problem the world is facing today. There was also a section where we played and won prizes. Lastly we learned a lot about different programs and technology for use in our life. We enjoyed the program and loved it! A big thanks to Mr Mead and Miss Hart for leading us and giving us the opportunity to go.” - Mari Habash (9 Curtin)
“Attending the Go Girls excursion was an amazing experience and it being held in a real university just made me extremely excited for what the future holds! I saw so many young women, intrigued and open to all of the great ideas, possibilities and activities presented through the Go Girls Excursion. Each and every activity we explored touched on and went over the forever growing opportunities within IT and STEM. I really enjoyed every aspect of the excursion from our use of VR headsets that gave us virtual simulations to the numerous interactive stalls presented by different companies and people. We also attended some presentations which included some QNAs which made us think and ponder. It unlocked more doors within our mind, more views on our expanding society and I know there is still so much for everyone to explore. We all learnt so much, the excursion guided us as women in STEM and it made me want to work even harder toward my future.” - Mia Ye (9 Barton)
