Faith Matters
Year 8 Reflection Day
As part of the Year 8 Religious Education Program, students attended a Reflection Day on 22nd of June. The students reflected on their life journey and explored the theme of forgiveness. Throughout Religion this term, students have been reflecting on four sources of knowing God. These four sources are: human experience, scripture, creation and Church tradition. On the Reflection Day, we explored the four sources, firstly by students sharing their stories, secondly through examining the scripture passage of the Prodigal Son, and after enjoying lunch in the beautiful grounds of Overnewton Castle the Year 8 cohort celebrated a Mass which was led by the Ressurection Parish Priest Father Gerard Keith. I would like to thank all the teaching staff who led small groups and shared the journey with the students.
The following is feedback from student evaluation of the day.
`I enjoyed recreating the story of the Prodigal Son.’
`Being able to fully understand my connection with God and how I can grow from my past to become a capable and aware person.’
`Having fun activities that makes it fun for the kids while connecting with God in a certain way.’
`Whole year level mass.’
`The activities were very enjoyable, everyone was working together and bonding.’
