Preparing for the Lenten Season

A time of almsgiving….

Fundraising for Caritas‘s Project Compassion kicked off on Shrove Tuesday with the Social Justice Team, making and selling pancakes. Every Monday during Lent students will be learning about a different community that Caritas supports and the impact of the funds we raise.

Every Tuesday Students Leaders will be visiting homerooms to collect for Project Compassion. Please ensure your child has a gold coin to contribute to project compassion.

The Social Justice team's next Fundraising activity will be Thursday at the swimming sports day by selling drinks and icy poles. 

A time of prayer………

This week in homeroom students participated in the Ash Wednesday reflection. Our students attended 7:30 Mass at Sacred Heart to collect ashes, and these were then distributed to the homerooms. The following is a prayer that was shared in the reflection. 

Loving God,

you create us from the dust of the earth;

may these ashes be for us a sign

of our penitence and our mortality.

Help us look for justice. 

Fill our hearts with love. 

Turn our compassion to action. 

We ask this in Jesus’ name.
