GOGIRLS CYBER EVENT 2021
Despite a 70% growth of ICT jobs in the last 25 years, women account for only 1% of the total female employed population in ICT roles. To combat this imbalance vicictforwomen held one of their events last week.
Six of our girls joined the Victorian 2021 Go-Girls Go For It Cyber Event. The event allowed our students to interact with professional women within the ICT/Engineering spectrum across Victoria. One workshop allowed a representative to speak to the students about designing for accessibility and how modern businesses adapt customer interfaces to overcome a very broad spectrum of physical disabilities. Other areas up for discussion were possible career paths and why ICT might be for them. I would encourage any girls with an interest in this as a possible career path to check out the vicictforwomen website for further events.
