YEAR 7 ASSEMBLY

yr7.jpg
On Wednesday morning, the Year 7 students were involved in a reflection morning that provided them with time to stop, reflect and share experiences from across this year. None of them would have expected to spend so much time offsite during their first year of high school, and the challenges that they were expecting to face have been different in many ways. The year 7 Pastoral Care team worked with their groups to facilitate a powerful and empowering program that focused on peace, prayer, resilience and gratitude. The feedback from students and staff has been overwhelmingly positive with many students expressing their hope for another similar opportunity next term.
After a recess break, all the year 7 students from across the level came together with staff and members of our community for an assembly. This was an opportunity that many of our students have been calling for and this was made evident by the outstanding turn out that we had. At one stage we had 124 devices logged in at the same time with many of those having more than one person watching. Sierra Lynch did a beautiful job at leading our community in prayer. Vicky Huynh, Maya Pion, Izabella Abdulahad and Noor Alouka shared their perspectives and advice about navigating through life and learning in lockdown. Their reflections provided an insight into some of the ways that they have been able to remain positive, motivated and grateful. Sierra returned to formally induct our Year 7 SRC leaders (Avril SanJose, Kayden Luzar and Roger Louis) on behalf of the student body and student awards were distributed to students from across the level in recognition of their effort and achievements this term. Towards the end, Audrey and Charlotte Gerada delivered a powerful expression of gratitude to all teachers and staff which was perfectly followed by Kayden Luzar who thanked our families on behalf of our students and staff members. The assembly finished with an address from Ms Utri who shared some thoughts and reflections of her own.
I would like to thank all the students, staff and families who attended the event, with a very special thanks to everyone who was involved in the planning and delivery of the reflection and assembly. It was a great morning and it would not have been possible without the support and hard work of so many. It was a beautiful moment that tied in so perfectly with our theme for the school year by highlighting that "we, though many, are one".

Thank You To Teachers

On behalf of all the Year seven’s we would like to thank our amazing teachers, who are still devoted to our learning even during our time online. We are lucky enough to have teachers who work hard and put in the effort that we, as students need to become stronger learners.

Although we have been online we have learnt so much and grown as individuals thanks to our teachers. During this time we have learnt and experienced independence and our teachers have worked hard to make sure we all are still working and growing. This time away has shown us that we are so lucky to have our teachers who really care about us and our learning. We are thankful that our teachers are working hard to make our learning as normal as possible under the circumstances. We would all rather be at school but we are lucky enough that we have teachers who have made online learning easy, efficient and engaging. We are all so grateful to have amazing teachers. So again thank you to all our teachers for your hard work and devotion. - Written and presented by Audrey Gerada

We would also like to thank our families for their ongoing support at home. Having us around the house all the time is not always easy, but having our families with us gives us the strength, safety, support and guidance that we have needed to survive isolation. On behalf of all the students and our teachers, we would like to thank our families for everything that they have done for us during this very challenging time.  - Presented by Kayden Luzar
