Community Matters

9 Deakin Food Bank Appeal

9 Deakin is collecting items to support the Holy Eucharist Food Bank. Be the bigger person and lend a hand to those in need. Each Year Level is asked to donate tinned foods such as beans, meat, and fruit cups, as well as pasta and rice. If you can’t source these items locally, a gold coin donation for 9 Deakin to collect will be greatly appreciated. Your generosity will be remembered and will go toward a truly meaningful cause.

Just like on Feast Day, we hope to gather as many donations as possible—the more, the better. A total contribution of at least $300–$400 would provide families with two weeks or more of groceries. For those who participated in Loaves and Fishes in Year 8, you know firsthand the powerful impact this kind of support can have. Even helping one community creates ripples that reach much further than you may realise.

On 28 August, students from 9 Deakin visited classrooms to share the news, distributing flyers, posters, and collection boxes. This will continue weekly: for Years 9 and 10, a small group will visit during Trinity sessions on Tuesdays; for Years 7 and 8, another group will come around during Homeroom.

We hope to see boxes overflowing by the end of the semester! Despite challenges, please continue to support your local food banks wholeheartedly.
