Mackillop Assembly Prayer: Who do you say I am

IMG_0871.jpg

Our first school assembly of the year, the MacKillop Assembly, provided a meaningful opportunity to reflect on our 2025 school theme: "Who do you say I am?" led by our student leaders.  The assembly challenged us to consider the depth of this question—one that Jesus Himself asked His disciples.

Throughout our school, this question is symbolically carried in the brass footprints that mark sacred spaces within our community. These footprints, found on our Welcome Wall, in the community garden, and near the peace signs in the Year 7 area, were created using the footprints of CRC St Albans students from Years 7-10. Each footprint invites us to pause, reflect, and consider how we recognize Christ in our lives and in those around us.

As a Catholic community, we are continually called to deepen our understanding of who God is and how we live out our faith each day. The question "Who do you say I am?" is not just about words—it is an invitation to see, listen and act with compassion, justice and love.

May this theme guide us throughout the year, shaping our conversations, our actions and our relationships with one another. The following prayer was read by the student leaders at the assembly.

Loving God,

As we begin this new school year, we thank You for Your presence among us. You walk with us in our learning, in our friendships, and in the moments that shape who we are.

Today, we have been reminded of the question Jesus asked His disciples: “Who do you say I am?”.

It is a question that invites us to reflect, to search and to deepen our faith.

As we walk through our school, we see the brass footprints—signs of those who have come before us, leaving their mark on this community. May these footprints remind us that we too, are on a journey, seeking to know You more.

Help us to be people of faith, courage and kindness. May our actions reflect Your love and may we support one another as we grow in understanding. Bless our school, our teachers and our families, and guide us in all that we do.

We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Year 9 Religion Education

In Year 9 Religion we are studying Biblical Prophets. At the beginning of the unit students are asked to contemplate the big questions, such as, `What would the world look like without God?’.  Students completed a collage of what they think the world would look like. Here are some examples of the Year 9 Student work.
